Progress your top rope climbing skills inside to lead climbing. Indoor lead climbing skills will give you access to a much wider range of climbs at all grades.
This course will be 2 x 3 hour sessions at a time to suit you.
The course will include;
- Lead belaying
- Clipping and clipping stance
- Route reading
- Fall practice
- Equipment advice (inc. use of the ohm)
- lots of climbing
Minimum age 14
For under 18's parent must be present
2 people required per course.
£75 per person inc. entry fee.
This course is a great way to progress your climbing from regular indoor climbing to outdoor lead climbing - where you clip your own quickdraws into a bolted route and thread the lower off.
Ideally you will have experience lead climbing inside and be climbing at around 5+.
The course can be arranged on a bespoke basis for one or two days to suit your needs, with a low instructor to customer ratio - only you will be on the course.
The course will cover;
- Lead belaying
- Correct fitting of harness and helmet
- Tying correctly into your harness
- Clipping of quickdraws
- Basic movement skills
- Reading the guide book
- Threading the lower off
- 'Cheating or clip sticking' and use of the Edelrid Ohm
- Learning about what climbing gear you will need
- Effective communication
2 people per course.
Courses run on Portland, Dorset or in the Wye Valley.
